Board Member Spotlight: Jen Riddle

Please welcome our eco warrior Jen Riddle to the stage! Jen is a program manager for a nonprofit in Montana. Jen is responsible for all of the national and local education and outreach programs. The organization is dedicated to preventing the introduction and spread of invasive species and educating recreationists on the simple actions we can all take to help stop the spread.

What brought you to nenos?

“As a chronic social media user, I was initially interested in serving on the nenos board because I know there is a desperate need for a platform that doesn’t leave you feeling exploited. Social media isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and I, for one, would rather spend my time on an app that emphasizes community, respects privacy, and is user friendly and fun! I’m happy to know such a dedicated group of folks and have my voice be heard.”

Tell me, do you have a hot take on modern social media practices?

“I use social media to keep in touch with friends and family that I live far away from. However, I sometimes feel that platforms like Instagram and Twitter will prioritize ads or content that they THINK I’ll like over content from accounts I actually follow!”

Outside of saving the planet and being our collective personal hero, what do you do with your free time?

“I like to spend my free time exploring the natural world around me by hiking up mountains and floating down rivers. I’ve also been known to take on an elaborate cooking project (the kind that takes half a day and leaves you covered flour)!”

Wow! That sounds like an exciting and tasty adventure. Thank you Jen for all that you do. And thank you reader for joining us today to highlight yet another member of our fabulous team. Tune in next time!
