July 2021 Development Updates: Tagging, Signing-In, & More!

This summer we’ve been working hard at improving nenos, and we have some exciting announcements to share in the latest edition of our development journey!

New Profile Editing

Your profile is typically the first impression that other content creators will have of you, so we’re excited to offer additional customization options: Tags and Pronouns!

With Tags, you’ll be able to edit and add tags that are shown on your profile and help you proudly display what makes you… you! To protect your information, you can also opt to make your tags private. You’ll also be able to update and edit your pronouns, as well as optionally hide them.

Control Your Data (literally)

You’ll now be able to adjust the cache size, or the amount of data that will be stored on your device to improve loading times. In a future build, you’ll also be able to opt for a “reduced or low data mode”, which will allow content creators with data caps to reduce their network data usage.

Improved Sign-In / Sign-Up Options

As we constantly try to improve the experience of our content creators, we recognize that creating an account, logging in, and regaining access to your account were not the easiest! So we’re excited to share that when creators sign up, you can now use a phone number and text message verification code instead of only your email address.*

For existing creators on the platform, you will now be able to recover forgotten passwords with an improved sign-in process. We’re also working on allowing you to pair a phone number to your account to avoid using passwords and making the sign-in process more simple; stay tuned for this!

Minor Improvements

There are some other improvements we’ve been making to the platform for posting and sharing content to be more enjoyable. This includes changing the interface so that when you create a post, it will display the photo and caption in a way that is much closer to how it will appear in others’ feeds. We’ve also improved the loading time on images in the Now feed, making the content you see appear much snappier!

We’re going to let the cat out of the bag on a bunch of different awesome features we’re working on that will be released in a future build.

The Discover option is being finalized, which will be an important part of the nenos platform and allow you to better connect with other creators. You’ll be able to assign “Places” to your content, meaning that others can tap on your post and see where the post happened, get directions to the post or save the post for later, and even find other posts at or around the area.

You will also be able to attach links to your posts, which will display a banner featuring the website’s logo, title, and an abbreviated URL to help your friends and family determine the authenticity of the link you shared. Finally, you’ll be able to save these links for later in case you’re about to board a flight, finishing up your lunch, or walking your dog and can’t visit the website at that time.
