We’re now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
Over the years, we’ve all seen the news articles highlighting how social media platforms harvest our data, create addictive algorithms, turn us against each other, and contribute toward mental health issues—and we’re 100% over it. This is why we created nenos in the first place: a social media platform that gets back to the roots of what makes social media great—lifting up content creators and communities, instead of exploiting and dividing them. It also inspired us when we took the first step of transitioning from a for-profit to a not-for-profit organization last year.
This is why I’m incredibly excited to share that nenos has just been officially designated with 501(c)(3) status! We are forging ahead as a revolutionary technology nonprofit, joining only a few other social media platforms in the entire world that support their creators through generous donations rather than selling their data for ad money.
This transformational change propels our mission forward of amplifying local voices and fostering authentic connections through our platform, empowering individuals to shape vibrant communities and drive positive change. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re now able to unlock cost-saving resources, create a stronger donor management plan, and engage businesses with sponsorship opportunities. This also further refines how truly different we are from other social media platforms.
If you also believe in our mission and want to support an ethical and forward-thinking social media platform, we have a few easy options available for you:
Join us on Patreon, where you can make monthly contributions—for as little as $1—and receive exclusive benefits and perks.
Make a one-time donation easily on our website with only a few clicks.
Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll be developing a sponsorship program for individuals, organizations and businesses that would like to generously support nenos on an elevated level. Additionally, we have some very exciting (and equally as transformational) changes coming this fall that we are looking forward to sharing with you. Stay tuned!
Finally, on behalf of our Board of Directors and the whole nenos team, we thank you for your continued support to our mission and the work we do. We all want to love social media… just without the negatives. nenos commits to never harvesting your data and making a profit from it. Instead, we want to continue building a social media platform together that will love you back, instead of selling you out.
